| While working for vendor companies and engaging the Florida reseller community, the GigaNetworks team uncovered a limitation of the Value Added Reseller (VAR) community in the market – they were providing no value. The term Value needs to bear with it some reasonable expectations of value. With this as a backdrop, the premise of GigaNetworks is to fill this gap and provide true value to the clients in the marketplace. Originally founded in 1999 to create a product focused on layer 7 network controls, after the ‘dot com’ market meltdown in 2000 the company’s team decided that it was not time to continue with this product focused agenda. The company was thus put in a state of hibernation until the market was ready for a re-launch of the organization. That moment arrived in 2008 with the identified support and service gap from one of our key vendors, Blue Coat. This gap is fundamentally a decision by the VAR channel not to provide value. GigaNetworks entered the market with the premise that we can make Blue Coat’s solution run well within the existing and new accounts within Florida. Once we had success with that offering, we added Palo Alto Networks Firewall to the card and followed that offering with Juniper, Citrix, Aruba, and SecureComputing/McAfee’s offering. Today GigaNetworks is a leading supplier of Blue Coat’s products and calls companies like Ryder, NCL, Burger King, Tyco, Citco, and the local and county governments some of its most notable clients. |
